Amboseli is located on the Kenya-Tanzania border at 3790ft altitude. Since 1948, millions of international guests including Hollywood film companies have been drawn to the park by the magic of Mt. Kilimanjaro the snow-capped mountain reaching to the sky above with wildlife grazing under flat topped thorn trees below. About a third of the park is taken up by the Lake.
In Amboseli National Park a seasonal soda lake which at certain times appear to be a dead flat waste land. There are riverine forests and swampy areas bright green with primordial clumps of vegetation. In Amboseli more than any other park in Kenya, you are guaranteed to see over 100 herds of Elephant. Elephant herds are easily visible across the rolling plains usually grazing their way to and from major feeding grounds or water holes. Interestingly, there are also flamingos to be seen in Lake Amboseli when it has water. There is always a possibility of seeing the Mt. Kilimanjaro peak on a clear morning.
Five wildlife habitats range from semiarid to wetlands. Amboseli is famous for its dramatic scenery and open plains. The image of Amboseli is usually herds of Elephant against the rich blue silhouette of 19,330ft high Mount Kilimanjaro. Itinerary:
4:30am - Depart Nairobi for Amboseli National Park. Drive through masai plains while observing the maasai herds and few game.
9:30am - Arrival at Amboseli park in time for a game drive. Observe hundreds of Elephant herds immersed in the crystal clear pools with waters from Mt Kilimanjaro. On a clear day, you can see the top of Africa's highest peak Mt Kilimanjaro. The park is home to Lions, Buffalos, Giraffes, Leopards, Zebras, Gnus, Cheetahs, Baboons, Hyenas, Hippos among other wildlife.
2:00pm - Hot Buffet Lunch at Oltukai Lodge / Serena Safari Lodge or equivalent in Amboseli National park
3:00pm - Depart with an enroute game drive towards Nairobi.
7:00pm - Arrive at Nairobi and drop off at the city centre, your hotel in the city or at the airport for your flight back home
